UP (2009)

Well I went to see Disney Pixar's latest creation which I must say is possibly one of the best animated films that I have ever seen.

The Film begins with the usual "Pixar Shorts" which was this time called Partly Cloudy. Based on clouds which create babies and new born animals for storks to deliver to parents, but focused mainly on one grey storm cloud which creates the more sinister of animals such as Crocodiles, Electric Eels and Sharks for one rather dishevelled looking stork to deliver.

The story has lots of laughs as well as some tear jerking moments. I shan't say too much as it will spoil it for others.

Now onto the main feature.....

Up is a story about a old aged pensioner who made a living selling helium filled balloons when he was younger and lived with his childhood sweetheart Ellie. Ever since they were young Mr Frederickson had promised to take his wife on an adventure to Paradise Falls, but as time goes on this seems more and more unlikely.

Mr Frederickson is left widowed and facing eviction after attacking a worker at the site next door when he runs over the mailbox that Mr Frederickson and Ellie made when they first bought the house. This gives him the idea to take his house and Ellie on the adventure he always promised to paradise falls by tying hundred of helium filled balloons to the roof of his house and takes off on the adventure of a lifetime, without realising that he also has a tag along visitor in the form of a young boy called Russell.

A highly unlikely relationship blossoms between the young boy and the old man with lots of tear jerking moments throughout. The film combines laughter with real sadness which people can relate to and keeps the audience glued to their seat for an enjoyable couple of hours.

I would highly recommend anyone of any age to go and see this film.
10/10
